LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE men's lacrosse team saw their season come to a close in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinal on Saturday afternoon, as the No. 5 seed Raiders fell to No. 4 seed Lake Forest College for the second time this season.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS - 8
Lake Forest College - 17
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (10-7, 8-3 NACC) trailed the Foresters (10-7, 8-3 NACC) from jump street after a goal from Lake Forest just over a minute into the contest. The Foresters would work their way to a 3-0 lead over the Red and White until Luke Neal found Tom Farren on a man-up opportunity, putting the Raiders in the score board with 4:01 left in the first quarter. The Foresters would add three goals in the final three minutes of the first frame, as Lake Forest led 6-1 after one quarter of play. Carter Stahl would add an unassisted goal at the 12:48 mark of the second quarter, but Lake Forest dominated the first half, leading MSOE 11-2 at the half.
- The Raiders would get a third quarter goal from Soren Savard, but the Foresters offense was too much to handle, as the Red and White trailed 16-3 heading to the fourth quarter. After the Foresters put in a new goalie, the Raiders ripped off four straight goals to cut the Lake Forest lead to 16-7. It proved to be too little, too late for MSOE, as each side would add one more goal before the final buzzer with the Raiders red-hot run coming to an unfortunate end at the hands of the Foresters.
