HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- AJ Le kicked things off after Jack Kalitowski led off the game reaching and stealing his way around the bases and coming in on a sacrifice fly to give MSOE (22-15, 16-6 NACC) an early 1-0 lead. The Raiders put the pressure on early in the second that got started with the bases loaded and Robby Erickson getting the rally started with a groundout to score Kyle Mayberry. The baserunning kept it rolling with Charlie Claas racing home on a passed ball before Jack Kalitowski ripping a single to score Jake Franks. The Raiders continued to be frisky on the basepaths as JJ Jackson streaked in from third with some misdirection from Kalitowski to make the game 5-0.
- After a lull in the third, Jackson got the bats rolling in the fourth, ripping a triple into left center to bring Franks all the way around from third before scoring on a Wisconsin Lutheran (14-22, 9-13 NACC) error. The Warriors finally got on the scoreboard in the fifth with a run but was answered with an RBI single from Jackson and a pair of groundout RBIs from Kalitowski and Christian Bosque to make it 10-1. The Warriors made things interesting with a four-run seventh inning to cut it 10-5, but RBIs singles from Bosque and Jordan Skolmar in the eighth put the finishing touches on game one.
- Game Two
- Things played out similarly in game two as Bosque reached in the bottom of the first and made his way around the basepaths and Le hitting a sacrifice fly for the early lead. The Warriors rallied immediately with three runs in the third and two in the fourth to make it 5-1. The cut the deficit in the bottom half, starting with a sacrifice fly from Skolmar to score Le before a first and third double steal scored Charlie Claas. Kalitowski brought the deficit down to one, reaching on an error to bring Kyle Mayberry around from second to make it 5-4.
- The Warriors added a run in the top of the fifth to make it 6-4 but once again was answered by the Raiders in a big way. Le got the scoring started with an RBI single to bring in Kalitowski before an RBI groundout from Franks tied up the game at six. The Raiders continued to roll with a pair of singles into center from Claas and Mayberry put the Raiders ahead 8-6. The Warriors found the offense gelling once again in the eighth, scoring four runs to take an 10-8 lead that the Raiders couldn't come back from to settle for the split.
