Softball's Tournament Run Comes to an End vs No. 2 Seed Dominican

MONTGOMERY, Ill. – The MSOE softball team faced elimination against the No. 2 Dominican Stars on Saturday afternoon, as both teams needed a win to keep their season alive for another game.  Despite an early run for the Raiders, the Stars took the lead back and never relinquished it, ending the season for the Red and White.

RESULTS

No. 5 MSOE RAIDERS – 2
No. 2 Dominican Stars - 4

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • vs Aurora
    • No. 5 MSOE (21-23, 15-9 NACC) took a 1-0 lead over No. 2 Dominican (31-11, 19-5 NACC) right out of the gates, as a walk to Jenna O'Donnell kicked off a short Raider rally.  Back-to-back hits from Katie Pollock and Jayda Nelson brought O'Donnell around, but the Stars would take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning, bringing two runs across on four hits.
    • Trailing 3-1 in the top of the fourth, Nelson reached on a single followed up by a double from Alyssa Jacobson to give the Red and White two runners in scoring position with just one out.  A sacrifice fly from Caroline Fouras cut the MSOE deficit to 3-2, but the Raiders would strand one as they went to the bottom of the inning.
    • After the Stars brought another run around in the fifth, the Raiders had their chance to strike in the sixth. After back-to-back singles from Pollock and Nelson, a one-out single from Alyssa Jacobson would load the bases with the Raiders trailing 4-2.  Dominican would force a pop-up and a ground out from the Raiders, as the bases loaded chance came up empty, with the 4-2 score holding the rest of the way, as the Raiders NACC Tournament run came to and end at the hands of the No. 2 seed.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders have wrapped for 2025 with a 21-23 record, posting a 15-9 record through conference play which earned them the No. 5 seed in the NACC Tournament.  The Raiders notched two wins in four games at the NACC Tournament, after bowing out after a single game last season.
