#19 Men's Volleyball Opens Conference Play with Road Win at Edgewood

MADISON, Wis. – The MSOE men's volleyball team opened up conference action Saturday night in the state capital, defeating Edgewood University in a four-set battle.

RESULT
#19 MSOE RAIDERS – 3

Edgewood - 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Edgewood (3-6, 0-1 NACC) jumped out to a substantial lead early at 14-6 as MSOE (8-5, 1-0 NACC) hit -.091 for the first set. The miscues from the Eagles came later in the set to help the Raiders go on a 5-0 run with hopes of making a comeback. The Eagles would close on a 4-0 run to eventually take the set 25-18. After trading rallies early in set two, Bram Griever kick-started a 9-1 run as Callan Harris and Hunter Carroll capped it with a block to lead 18-10. The lead became too daunting for the Eagles to overcome as the Raiders took the second set 25-16.
  • The Eagles led 11-7 before eventually growing the advantage to 18-10 well past the midway point. Four service aces from Reed Hefley were just a minor part of an 11-0 run the Raiders would go on 11-0 run to lead 23-19, pushing towards set point. Getting to set point, the Eagles clawed their way back in with a 4-0 run to tie it at 24. Kills from Seth Thomas and Carroll seal the set win 26-24.
  • Set four open as narrow as it could be as both team went on multi-point rallies before trading points with the Eagles having the advantage midway through at 14-12. Harris started a 4-0 run to give the Raiders a 16-14 lead that wouldn't be overtaken with Thomas putting the finishing touches on the match to win 25-21.
