Jared Cantu comes to MSOE after previous stints with Benedictine University & Birmingham Southern College.
Jared spent the past spring at BenU where he was the hitting coach and worked with outfielders. He helped lead BenU to their first NACC tournament title, first regional appearance since 2013, first regional win since 2003, & most wins in school history. The Eagles had 4 hitters selected to all conference teams, 3 of which receiving all region honors, and 2 receiving all-american status.
Prior to that he spent 2 and half years with Birmingham Southern where he worked with hitters, outfielders, and infielders. During his tenure at BSC the Panthers were 2 time conference champs, regional champs, super regional champs, and finished 5th in the college world series. In his 2 full seasons the program had a combined record of 81-21. His hitters saw many accolades as 13 were voted all conference selections, 10 all region honors, & 2 All Americans. He also helped guide CF Cam McNearney to a Rawlings Gold Glove Award.
Jared completed 5 years of school at North Park University receiving CCIW all conference selections and being awarded a Rawlings Gold Glove in 2019. He is North Park's all time leader in fielding percentage. Jared completed his undergrad in Physical Education and has his masters degree in Education with a focus in Health and Wellness
