Steve Sanfilippo became the ninth baseball coach in MSOE history, with the 2014 campaign being the first with him at the helm.

  • Led team to first ever NACC tournament title and NCAA tournament appearance in 2022
  • Named 2022 WBCA College Coach of the Year

  • Coached the Raiders to first 25 win season (2018) and has led team to five seasons of 21 wins or more

Coaching Experience Outside of MSOE

  • Serves as an assistant coach, director of baseball operations, as well as in administrative positions within external relations and the athletic director’s office at UW-Milwaukee (2008-2010). Helped Panthers win two Horizon League (NCAA D-I) conference championships and appeared in the NCAA regionals in 2010. Five student-athletes were drafted in the MLB First-Year Player Draft while at UWM. 
  • Has additional coaching experience with Ripken Baseball Camps, Whitefish Bay Junior Dukes, and as a private baseball trainer as owner and operator of Sanfilippo Baseball LLC.

Playing Career

  • Played three seasons at UW-Milwaukee after starting his career at Central Michigan.
  • Was the Panthers’ starting shortstop all three seasons at UWM
  • Earned Horizon League All-Newcomer Team honors in his first season. 
  • Member of the National Scholars Honor Society
  • Named the UWM Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year as a senior.

Education

  • Earned Masters degree from Canisius College in Sports Administration
  • Graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a degree in Communication
