GLENDALE, Wis. - The MSOE women's tennis team closed out the NACC portion of its schedule with a convincing 8-1 over Alverno Tuesday afternoon at Nicolet High School.
The Raiders (4-11, 4-7 NACC) closed out conference play with wins in two of their last three matches.
Freshman Michelle Lee (Oak Creek, Wis. / Oak Creek) closed out her rookie conference campaign with her fourth-straight win, posting a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Then, she teamed with senior Ashley Albrecht (Brookfield, Wis. / Central) for a win at No. 2 doubles, 8-3.
Also winning in straight sets were freshman Kelsey Weinkauf (Elkhart, Ind, / Jimtown) at No. 5 singles and sophomore Melanie Avery (Bolingbrook, Ill. / Neuqua Valley) in the No. 6 position. Weinkauf won easily, 6-0, 6-1, while Avery was a 6-2, 6-1 winner. The duo also paired for the win at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
Senior Marly Trier (Port Washington, Wis. / Port Washington) and sophomore Michelle Roubik (Muskego, Wis. / Muskego) also posted wins in both singles and doubles. Trier played at No. 1 singles and posted a 6-3, 3-6 (10-5) victory. Roubik won at No. 2, 3-6, 6-1 (10-4). Both matches ended with tie-breakers due to the team result being decided. Trier and Roubik won together at No. 1 doubles, 8-4.
MSOE returns to action Saturday with a pair of road matches at St. Norbert and UW-Stevens Point.
