Men's Hockey Defeats Falcons in Road Victory

MEQUON, Wis. – The MSOE men's hockey team picked up their third road win of the season, as well as remaining perfect on the road during conference play behind two second period goals to defeat Concordia University Wisconsin.

FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 2

Concordia Wisconsin - 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (4-2-0, 3-1-0 NCHA) played heavily in their offensive end in the first period, outshooting Concordia Wisconsin (2-4-0, 1-3-0 NCHA) 11-4 but couldn't put one past as it was scoreless at the first break. Just 57 seconds into the second period beginning, Jacob Bosse was able to get the scoring going, playing two-on-one with Eddie Shepler on a counterattack. Seven minutes later, a faceoff win for the Raiders in their own offensive end all the way around the net and squirmed out for Gramm McCormack to have a quick one-timer and extend the lead to two, which held at the second break.
  • After the Falcons tried mightily to strike in the second period as they won the shot total 18-6 in the second period, the Raiders came back hoping to put the game out of reach in the third, leading 11-5. Just as the Raiders were hoping to skate away with the easy shutout, the Falcons made it interesting as with 2:09 remaining broke the shutout to cut it with to within one. After pulling their goalie, the Falcons tried to get one past Spencer Northway between the pipes but could not get the job done as the Raiders held on.
