HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (14-5-2, 10-1-1 NACC) and Edgewood (15-5-1, 10-2-0 NAAC) remained deadlocked through the first 20 minutes of play, until the Raiders would break through on a set play from the corner. The captain-to-captain connection of Elizabeth Kuhn and Faith Papazoglou would put the Red and White up 1-0 at the 22:49 mark, followed up not even four minutes by another MSOE goal. Alexis Jamiola would place a perfect pass to Claire Bradford, who buried the ball in the corner of the goal to put MSOE up 2-0 midway through the first half as the Raider faithful erupted with enthusiasm.
- The Raiders would hold their 2-0 lead through the halftime break, holding Edgewood to just two first half shots with the backline defense of Samantha Shaver and Reagan Burkemper holding the Eagles in check. With the Eagles on the brink of elimination, the pace and physicality of the game would pick up, until a penalty kick was awarded to the Raiders, as Rosario Etcheverria Abuin converted to increase the MSOE lead to 3-0. With just under 30 minutes to play, reigning NACC Defensive Player of the Week Page Sanchez would stop all shots she faced, including a spectacular diving effort down the stretch, as the Raiders advanced to the NACC Championship for the third consecutive season with a 3-0 victory. The Raiders will gear up for a rematch of the previous two NACC Championships, set for another bout with the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks.
