Women's Soccer Dismantles Spartans in Blowout Fashion

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's soccer team hosted the Spartans of Aurora University on Saturday afternoon, with five different Raiders finding the back of the goal as they dismantled their opponent in a 5-1 blowout win.

RESULT
Aurora University Spartans – 1
MSOE RAIDERS – 5

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (5-4-1, 4-0-0 NACC) worked quickly to open the contest, as Elizabeth Kuhn placed a perfect pass to Claire Bradford with the De Pere product connecting to put MSOE up 1-0 on Aurora (0-9-0, 0-4-0 NACC) just 63 seconds into the game.  Aurora would fight back mere minutes later, putting pressure on the MSOE defense and taking advantage of a goalkeeper's miscue to even things up at 1-1.  Rosario Etcheverria Abuin would add a second goal at the 20:46 mark thanks to a slick pass from Sam Fleischman, giving the Raiders the lead back midway through the first half.
  • Faith Papazoglou would continue her hot streak as she added the third Red and White goal of the afternoon, as the captain connection between her and Kuhn combined for yet another point.  With the first half winding down, Hadleigh Ostrenga would add an unassisted goal to give MSOE a 4-1 lead at the break, as the Spartans had no answers for the versatile MSOE attack.  In the second half, the Raiders would keep their defensive standard high, holding the Spartans to just one shot in the final 45 minutes.  Reagan Burkemper would head in goal #5 for the Red and White off the foot of Papazaglou, as the Raiders ran away with their fourth straight conference win, pushing them above .500 for the first time this season.
