Four All-American Honors Earned at the NCAA Indoor National Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sending four athletes to the NCAA Indoor National Championship, all four come home with Second-Team All-American honors, the most at a championship in program history.

MEN'S RECAP
  • Daniel Geerts kicked off the weekend on Friday in the 60-meter hurdles, drawing heat three. Geerts had one of the best starts in the entire field, leading from the gun eventually finishing fifth in his heat with a time of 8.15 for 14th overall. AJ Springer, who also was heat three of the 800-meter run, sat comfortably in sixth for the first 600 meters before charging down the backstraight to get into position for the automatic qualifier spots, ultimately finishing third in heat and tenth overall.
WORDS FROM MASSOELS
  • "I'm really happy with both of them and how they competed this weekend. Any time you go to nationals and compete higher than where you're projected and bring home two All-American, you can't be upset with that. Springer being someone who's been here before and Geerts having his first experience here, the little hiccups they've experienced the last couple weeks, I thought they really showed they belong on this stage" – Head Coach Bill Massoels.
WOMEN'S TEAM RECAP
  • Josephine Jacklin kicked started the two Raiders in the shot put, competing in flight one with her first toss going 11.79 meters. Her best throw came on her second attempt going 13.27 meters with her final attempt going 12.79 meters finish fourth in her flight. Jessa Alderman competed in flight two with her lone mark coming on her first attempt going 13.14 meters. Alderman scratched on her final two throws to finish ninth in her flight. Jacklin ultimately finished 11th overall with Alderman in 13th.
WORDS FROM ALLGOOD
  • "Getting to see Jessa and Josei climb the mountain to get to the national stage was such a treat. Those two have word incredibly hard and competed their hearts out during the indoor season, and to have that rewarded by getting to the biggest stage in Division III is something they both can be proud of" – Head Coach Malachi Allgood
