Softball Splits Senior Day Twin Bill

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE softball team celebrated Senior Day on Sunday afternoon, as the Raiders split their doubleheader with the Concordia Chicago Cougars, with the Red and White taking game one of the twin bill.

RESULTS

Concordia Chicago – 2
MSOE RAIDERS - 4

Concordia Chicago - 9
MSOE RAIDERS - 2

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • MSOE (8-24, 5-13 NACC) and CUC (15-19, 10-12 NACC) were scoreless through the first two and a half innings, with the Raiders getting the early edge on the Cougars.  In the bottom of the third, Noel Dahl led off with a single, before Reese Konczal reached on an error to put two on with no outs for the Red and White.  After back-to-back outs, Rikka Ludvigson would blast a three-run homer to right center field for a 3-0 MSOE lead.
    • A sacrifice fly from Dahl would allow Carlee Emery to score and push the Red and White's lead to 4-0 after five innings, as Katie Pollock continued her winning ways as the primary pitcher for the Raiders.  Despite a couple of late runs from the Cougars, Pollock would go the distance for the win, striking out two and allowing just two earned runs in the 4-2 win for MSOE.
  • Game Two
    • In game two, Dahl would step up again for the Raiders, as the senior singled to center field, allowing Emery to score and give the Red and White a 1-0 lead.  The Cougars would tie the game up in the fourth inning, before taking a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth.  An error from CUC would allow Konczal to knot the game up at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth, but from there it was all Concordia, as the Cougars tallied six runs in the seventh inning to split the day with the Raiders.
