MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's volleyball team kicked off the 2026 Raider Invite, surviving near reverse sweeps before runaway fifth-sets to defeat Moravian University and Carroll University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs. Moravian
- Moravian (1-4, 0-0 Landmark) jumped out to a hot start, having an 8-3 advantage to open the match until MSOE (4-1, 0-0 NACC) made an 8-3 run of their own as Emma Schattschneider went on a spree, making kills on seven of the eight points to tie the set at 11. The Raiders took their first advantage at 14-13 before Schattschneider once again went on a heater, making five kills on their last six points to win set one 25-21.
- Schattschneider continued her run in set two, opening with a pair of kills with an ace to go up 5-0 from the gun. The Raiders continued to grow their lead, making it as large as eleven after a block from Schattschneider and Maddie Abel before taking the set 25-15.
- The Greyhounds kept things interesting, going back and forth in set three, taking a 21-18 lead and then rattled off the final three points to make it 25-22. In set four, the Greyhounds led 9-3 and then doubled the lead at 23-11, forcing a fifth set with a 25-13 win. After the Greyhounds led 6-5, it was all Red & White as they scored the final ten points to take the victory 15-6.
- Schattschneider led the match with 24 kills, 13 of those coming in set one, along with 24 digs and three service aces. Natalie Martinez added 16 digs and three aces, while Annabella Visak had 13 digs. Maddie Abel led the way as the setter, making 33 assists.
- vs. Carroll
- Coming off the buzz of the first match, the Raiders refused to slow down, starting off the match with an 11-2 lead, which included three aces from Martinez. Carroll (4-3. 0-0 CCIW) cut it down to five at 20-15 as the Raiders closed on a 5-2 run, capped by a block from Alyssa Rusch and Katie Moser to win 25-17.
- Raiders 12-6 at the midway point of set two after a solo block from Ella Notheisen. The Pioneers brought it to within one at 15-14 but the Raiders slowly worked it back up as Schattschneider ended the set with a kill to win 25-21.
- The Pioneers found a rhythm in set three, using a 6-0 run to lead 17-11, adding a 6-0 run to cap the set, winning 25-14. Set four saw each a battle back and forth, stretching it all the way past the 25-point mark as the Pioneers just barely edged them, winning 29-27 to force a fifth. The Raiders found a way to regroup mightly in the set five, as Schattschneider and Rusch each dropped in a pair of kills as they led 5-1 to begin. They continued to stretch the lead as Notheisen and Rusch stuffed the Pioneers at the net to end it, winning 15-6.
- Nothesien led the match, having 16 kills with 16 digs. Schattschneider added 14 kills, while Rusch had eleven to round out the double-digit kills. Martinez continued to be a force defensively, making 25 digs, while also being lethal serving, having six aces. Abel and Moser split setter duties, having 22 and 21 assists, respectively.

th, facing Luther College at 10:00 a.m. and Benedictine University at 2:00 p.m.
