Box Score MILWAUKEE - Five different players tallied eight or nine kills each to lead the MSOE women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Alverno Friday evening at Reiman Gymnasium.
The Raiders (8-10, 2-3 NACC) downed the Inferno (9-9, 1-5 NACC) 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20 for their third-straight win.
An early 14-3 run put MSOE in the driver's seat in the first set. AC battled back within a point several times late, but the Raiders scored the final five points to claim the frame. The Inferno then fought off six set points in the second to pull within 24-23, but freshman Sarabeth Haworth closed the door with a kill to give her side a 2-0 advantage.
Alverno fought back to take the third set, but the Raiders closed the fourth set with six-straight points to erase a slim 20-19 deficit and win the match.
Haworth finished with nine kills and 24 digs, while freshman Maria Bintz also tallied nine kills to pair with 13 digs. Freshman Madeline Molnor also had nine kills, while sophomore Leah Hendricks and freshmen Rachel Lynde had eight kills apiece. Hendricks hit .571 in the match, while Lynde posted a .471 attack percentage.
MSOE returns to action Saturday, hosting Rockford at 6 p.m. at the Kern Center.
