Box Score MILWAUKEE – Colin Rundell made 25 saves in a shutout effort for St. Scholastica shut out the MSOE hockey team 2-0 in the teams' series finale Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (0-2-0, 0-2-0 NCHA) outshot the Saints (2-0-0, 2-0-0 NCHA) 25-19 in the game, but could not find the back of the net.
CSS scored the first full strength goal of the series in the opening period to pull ahead 1-0. Michael Spring scored the eventual game-winner off assists from Joel Paiement and Josh Hansen at 16:10.
It was a fast-paced first period, with the Raiders getting a number of dangerous looks on goal. They forged a 9-7 shot advantage, but Rundell came up with nine saves. The Saints doubled their advantage in the second period when Paul Marcoux scored at 5:54.
MSOE did not go down without a fight. Freshman Gunnar Regan hit the pipe with 1:40 to go and the Red and White killed off a 5-on-3 CSS power play for almost the entire final minute of the game.
Sophomore Nick Kohn stopped 19 shots in the game for MSOE.
The Raiders return to action next weekend, hosting Adrian in a weekend series at the Kern Center. Puck drops Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
