Raiders Drop Opener To #6 Adrian 4-1

Box Score

MILWAUKEE - No. 6 Adrian jumped out to a 4-0 lead and the MSOE hockey team could not rebound in falling to the Bulldogs 4-1 Friday evening at the Kern Center.

Adrian (3-0, 3-0 NCHA) scored a pair of goals in each of the first two periods and held on against the Raiders (0-3, 0-3 NCHA) in the first game of the weekend series in Milwaukee.

MSOE came out strong in each of the first two periods, but was unable to translate those starts into goals. The Raiders kept fighting and pulled one back in the third period, but would get no closer. Freshman Gunnar Regan found the back of the net for his first collegiate goal, unassisted at 9:02.

The Raiders carried the momentum of the goal throughout the remainder of regulation and finished strong, but could not get another goal.

The Red and White outshot AC 33-27 on the night, but a pair of goalies combined on 32 saves for the Bulldogs to keep it at bay. Sophomore Nick Kohn got the start in goal for MSOE and made 19 saves in two periods. Freshman Austin Campbell played in the final frame and made four saves in his collegiate debut.

Austin Hervey got the scoring started midway through the opening period, converting on AC's power play at 10:24. He then assisted on what held up as the game-winner with less than two minutes to go before intermission.

Then, in the second period, the script was similar. Ryan Lowe scored a power play goal to put the visitors ahead 3-0 before Josh Ranalli capped their scoring at 16:19.

The Raiders and Bulldogs wrap up the weekend series Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center. Puck drops at 2 p.m.
