SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – The MSOE women's volleyball team struggled on offense, but fought back to claim a set before falling to Lakeland 25-15, 25-13, 23-25, 25-16 Tuesday evening at Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Raiders (9-11, 4-3 NACC) hit -.034 for the match in seeing the Muskies (11-14, 4-3 NACC) snap their three-game NACC winning streak.

Junior Leah Hendricks finished with a team-high seven kills for MSOE. Sophomores Maria Bintz and Rachel Lynde had six kills apiece, while three players reached double-figures in kills led by freshman Alah Quast's 12.

Allison Errthum paced Lakeland with 13 kills and Jenna Ward added 11.

In the opening set, the Raiders just could not crack the Muskies' defense. They had just three kills in the set, compared to five errors, for a -.061 hitting percentage. On the other end, LC managed 21 digs on 33 Red & White attacks. MSOE found a bit more success in set two, netting six kills, but the home team broke open an 8-8 set with an 8-1 run and hit .407 in not looking back.

The Raiders battled back to claim the third set by limiting the Muskies to just -.056 hitting and racking up 11 kills. MSOE had a run of six-straight points midway through the set for a 13-10 lead, but LC came back to snatch the lead. The Red & White would catch up at 21-21 and face another deficit at 23-21 before closing out the frame strong with four-straight points to pull within 2-1 in the match.

Lakeland claimed the match by pulling away early in the final set. Seven-straight points for the home team provided all the breathing room it would need.

The Raiders are back on the court Wednesday, hosting Mount Mary at the Kern Center.
