Box Score MILWAUKEE – Junior Brock Shilling and Silas Linares each scored goals to lead the MSOE men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Edgewood Tuesday evening at Viets Field.
The Raiders (14-3, 8-0 NACC) knocked off the Eagles (7-7-1, 3-4 NACC) for their sixth-straight victory and remained perfect in conference play.
MSOE got on the board in the 33rd minute when Shilling hammered in his fifth goal of the season. The play got started 35 yards away on a free kick from junior Logan Andryk. The free kick found the head of junior Michael Skow, who headed it in front of the goal. Shilling was there to hit a shot into the top of the goal netting to put his side ahead.
Leading up to the goal, and for the bulk of the opening half, neither team had a foothold on offense, but the Raiders controlled momentum.
The tempo carried into the second half, but MSOE started to gain traction on its attack with a number of dangerous forays into the Edgewood penalty area.
The pressure paid off, as the Red & White added an insurance goal in the 73rd minute. Linares made a run with the ball down the center of the field, around one defender, and blasted a shot just inside the far post from 30 yards out.
MSOE outshot the Eagles 22-5 in the match, putting eight shots on goal in the process.
Senior Garrett Farin made three saves for his third-straight shutout and eighth of the season. His counterpart, Matt Dammen, finished with six saves for Edgewood.
The Raiders close out the home portion of their schedule Saturday, hosting Lakeland at 3:30 p.m.
