Raiders Win Two in Illinois Handily

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The MSOE men's tennis dropped just one point to sweeping a pair of NACC opponents on the road in Illinois Saturday.

The Raiders (7-9, 5-1 NACC) remained in a tie for first place with a 9-0 victory at Concordia Chicago (3-3, 3-3 NACC) in the morning, followed by an 8-1 victory at Dominican (2-9, 2-5 NACC).

MSOE has now won four-straight matches.

Junior Zachary Dam was one of just two Raiders to play in both singles lineups, winning each of his singles matches at No. 2 singles. He won vs. CUC 6-4, 6-2 and Dominican 6-0, 6-1. In doubles play, he teamed with junior Matt Slaughter for an 8-4 win at No. 2 against the Cougars. Slaughter also won in singles during the match, claiming a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6. Against DU, he paired with freshman Lucas Ferrando for an 8-4 victory in that No. 2 slot.

Senior Eric Klamrowski also featured in both singles lineups, playing No. 1 and winning 6-2, 6-2 vs. Concordia. He fell in his match against the Stars, but paired with freshman David Goredetsky for No. 1 doubles wins in both matches, 8-1 and 9-7, respectively. Gorodetsky played singles against Concordia, winning at No. 3 without losing a game, 6-0, 6-0.

Senior Reekah Delfanian was in the starting lineup for both matches, but earned withdrawal points at both No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles with freshman John Price. Delfanian did see the court against CUC, winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Price played at No. 5 singles in that match, winning handily 6-0, 6-0.

MSOE mixed up the lineup a bit in the day's second match against Dominican. Winning their singles matches were junior Andrew Kosasih at No. 3 (6-4, 6-4), freshman Tom Smith at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1) and senior Steve Smith at No. 5 (6-0, 6-2).

The Raiders close out the season at home, starting with a visit from Lakeland Wednesday at Lake Park Tennis Courts.
