Box Score RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Senior Leah Hendricks finished with 19 kills and was one of three Raiders with double-doubles as the MSOE women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match to Concordia Chicago 25-22, 25-20, 14-25, 25-20 Friday evening at Geiseman Gymnasium.
MSOE (9-10, 0-4 NACC) trailed 2-0 in the match, but dominated the Cougars (7-10, 2-1 NACC) in the third set before the home side prevailed in the fourth.
Hendricks added three service aces and 12 digs for the Red & White. Junior Rachel Lynde had 14 kills, three aces and 12 digs, while sophomore Abby Born finished with 32 assists and 15 digs.
Austin Thompson led CUC with 25 kills and 16 digs on the night.
The Raiders led the opening set late at 21-18, but the Cougars closed out the frame on a 7-1 run. Concordia carried that momentum over to the second set, building a 10-3 lead. MSOE answered by gradually attacking that deficit and pulled with 18-16 before CUC seized a 2-0 lead in the match with a 7-4 run to end the period.
The Red & White fought back with a dominant third set, breaking a 6-6 tie with a 16-3 run to open a 22-9 lead in the frame and rolled to force a fourth set.
The Cougars played from ahead in the final game, scoring the first six points. MSOE once again battled back, pulling within one at 13-12 after a 7-1 run. Three-straight Concordia points gave the home team some breathing room the Raiders could not overcome.
MSOE finished with one more kill than CUC (43-42), but hit just .109. It added 12 service aces in the match, including another player with three in senior Selena Dickinson.
