Raider Offense Stalls at Edgewood

Box Score

MADISON, Wis. – The MSOE women's volleyball struggled to get its offense going in falling to Edgewood 25-19, 25-20, 25-13 Wednesday evening at the Edgedome.

The Raiders (9-4, 0-2 NACC) hit .084 for the match, buoyed by a .222 clip in the final frame, but the Eagles (5-4, 2-0 NACC) hit .632 in that set to finish at .296 for the match.

Junior Rachel Lynde and freshman Hannah Pekarek had seven kills apiece to pace the Red & White.

Elizabeth Evans led Edgewood with a game-high 10 kills.

MSOE jumped out early in the opening set, building a 7-2 lead. Unfortunately, EC came back, overcoming an 11-6 deficit to tie the score at 13-13 with a 7-2 run. The home team then pulled ahead and closed out the frame with a 5-1 run after the Raiders had pulled within two.

It was the Eagles that got off to the hot start in the second set. They jumped out to a 10-2 lead and never looked back, as the Red & White got no closer than three. Despite MSOE's best hitting set in the third, Edgewood was just that much better, building on a 9-6 lead to open an 18-7 advantage before closing out the match.

The Raiders now get the weekend off before returning to the court Tuesday, hosting Marian at the Kern Center.
