Box Score DULUTH, Minn. – St. Scholastica scored twice in the third period to hand the MSOE hockey team a 2-0 loss Friday evening in the opening night of an NCHA weekend series.
The Raiders (9-5, 4-5 NCHA) could not crack the Saints' (9-3-1, 7-2 NCHA) on the night, falling behind in the third period and allowing an empty-net goal with just two seconds remaining.
Senior Nick Kohn made 25 saves on the night, allowing just one goal. Tyler Bruggeman posted a shutout with 20 stops.
CSS broke a scoreless tie at 7:50 of the third period. That lead would hold up as the Raiders were unable to equalize. The Red & While pulled Kohn for the extra attacker with 55 seconds remaining in the game, but was unable to put a shot on goal. The home-standing Saints took advantage of the empty net to put the game away in the final seconds.
The series concludes Saturday. The puck drops at 4 p.m.
