Box Score LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The 15th-ranked MSOE hockey team fell behind 3-0 in the first period and could not rebound in falling to Lake Forest, 4-0, Friday evening at the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
The Raiders (8-4, 3-4 NCHA) had won each of the first five games of a six-game road swing before falling to the Foresters (6-6, 4-5 NCHA) in the opening game of the weekend series.
LFC jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period, outshooting MSOE 14-4 in the opening period. It would extended that lead to 4-0 with a power play in the second period.
The Raiders did hold a 13-9 shot advantage in the second frame, but could not crack the Forester defense. For the game, the home team held a 33-23 shot advantage in the game. MSOE had three power play attempts and LFC was 1-for-5 on the power play.
Sophomore Zach Woodman got the start in the pipes, making 29 saves. Leo Podolsky anchored the Lake Forest defense with 23 saves for the shutout.
The weekend series wraps in Milwaukee Saturday. The puck drops at 5 p.m. at the Kern Center.
