Box Score MILWAUKEE – Sophomore Julia Zeamer hit a school-record .714 with 10 kills and no errors in leading the MSOE women's volleyball team to its second sweep of the week, this time of Alverno, 25-16, 25-19, 25-18, Friday evening at Reiman Gymnasium.
The Raiders (4-13, 3-5 NACC) set a season-high in attack percentage for the second-straight match at .262, while limiting the Inferno (3-21, 1-6 NACC) to .037.
Zeamer's 10 kills came on 14 attacks and eclipsed the previous record of .688 by Marina Bintz Oct. 2, 2013. It is the most kills in a match without an error in program history.
Sophomore Hannah Pekarek added six kills, while four more players had either four or five kills each.
Melissa Weyand led Alverno with eight kills.
MSOE hit. 348 in the opening set, breaking open a slight 5-4 lead with a 9-1 run to push its advantage to 14-5. Another 5-0 run put the game decidedly out of reach. The Red & White then used a pair of 6-0 runs in the second frame to jump out to a 17-7 lead and never looked back. It then closed out the match, putting together a 9-2 run to establish what turned out to be an insurmountable 23-15 advantage in set three.
The Raiders will look to continue their winning ways Tuesday, hosting Lakeland.
