WAUKESHA, Wisconsin – Senior Austin Campbell won both his singles and doubles matches as the MSOE men's tennis returned to action with a 6-3 loss against Carroll Saturday afternoon at Moreland Tennis Center.

The Raiders (1-14), who had not competed since March 2 in Florida, pushed two singles to tiebreakers in a competitive match with the Pioneers.

Campbell opened his day in doubles play, teaming with senior Tyler Haanen for an 8-3 win at No. 3. Then, in singles, he downed his opponent in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.

Junior Ryan Runke picked up MSOE's third points at No. 4 singles, scoring a 10-3 win in the tiebreak of a three-set thriller.

The Raiders were also in fierce contention for team points at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Freshman David Chon saw his No. 2 singles match go to a third-set tiebreak, where he was edged 10-8 in falling. He had won the opening set 6-3 before a 6-3 loss in set two. Senior Tom Smith at No. 3 rebounded from a 6-4 in the first set to take the next 6-2. He then fell in the tiebreak 10-3.
