Men's Tennis Sees Win Streak Snapped by IIT

KENOSHA, Wisconsin – Freshman Connor Splingaire picked up his seventh-straight win to lead the MSOE men's tennis team in an 8-1 loss at the hands of Illinois Tech Saturday morning at the Smeds Tennis Center.

The Raiders (7-6) had won seven-straight matches and lost for the first time since February against a Scarlet Hawks (10-12) team that will be joining the NACC next season.

Playing at No. 5 singles, Splingaire jumped ahead in his match at 7-5 before suffering a 6-3 loss in the second set. He came back to secure the win with a 10-7 win in the tiebreaker. The win improved him to 7-5 on the second and 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

This was the final non-league match of the season as the Raiders close out the regular season Wednesday against Concordia Wisconsin. The match has league title implications as 7-0 MSOE and the 5-0 Falcons are the last two unbeaten NACC teams.

The Red & White clinched a top-two seed in the NACC Tournament and a bye into the semifinals May 6 in Madison.
