Women's Volleyball Stifled By Concordia Chicago

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's volleyball team suffered a 25-17, 25-14, 25-12 defeat at the hands of Concordia Chicago Friday evening at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (6-10, 1-3 NACC) fell behind early in each set and was unable to recover against the Cougars (7-9, 2-2 NACC).

Four different players tallied a team-high three kills in the match in seniors Hannah Pekarek and Elsey Kohlmann, junior Sarah Williams, and freshman Quinn Borchert.

Jaylynn Johnson and Julia Spitelli led CUC with seven kills apiece.

In the opening set, the visitors rattled off a 15-3 run to turn a 9-6 Red & White advantage into a 21-12 game on the way to the win. Then, the Cougars jumped out to a 12- lead in game two. Seven-straight points early opened a 10-4 lead for Concordia in the final set. CUC would open a 10-point lead and then ended the match on a 6-2 run to complete the sweep.

MSOE hit .000 on the night. Meanwhile, the Cougars hit .203 and capitalized on 18 service aces.

The Raiders return to action Saturday night at Maranatha. The match starts at 8 p.m.
