MILWAUKEE – After dropping their first game of the season on Sunday afternoon, No. 17 MSOE wanted to quickly push past that and start a new winning streak. They are well on their way now after a smooth sailing doubleheader sweep of Rockford on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
No. 17 MSOE (13-1, 0-0 NACC North) made quick work of Rockford (10-4, 0-0 NACC South) in game one. Literally. The Raiders eight-run ruled the Regents in just 68 minutes, making it one of the quickest games in recent memory for the Red & White. MSOE scored three in the first, two in both the second and third, and one in the fourth to enact the mercy rule as quickly as possible. Lorrin Pondo was on the mound for the Raiders and once again was lights out. Pondo went all five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven for her sixth win of the year. Her season ERA currently sits at a minuscule 0.37.

Emily Wiederholt got the start in game two, and while she ran into a little bit of trouble, it wasn't anything her offense couldn't get her out of. Wiederholt went four innings giving up two runs on five hits. Even with those two runs allowed, her victory was never in doubt thanks to a five run Raiders first inning. Lauren Stefanczyk doubled home two to open up the scoring for the Red & White, Morgan Long tripled in a run, and both Celine Pacheco and Caitlyn Spreitzer pushed a run across to put the Raiders ahead. The Red & White added three more insurance runs in the sixth as they sweep the Regents with a game two victory of 8-3.
