Box Score 2 MILWAUKEE – MSOE softball received the programs highest ever ranking this past Wednesday and the Raiders were ready to back that up. The Red & White got some great pitching and timely offense on Saturday as they took both games of their doubleheader against Lakeland at the MSOE Athletic Field.
RESULTS
Game One
Lakeland – 0
#13 MSOE RAIDERS – 2
Game Two
Lakeland – 1
#13 MSOE RAIDERS – 6
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both MSOE (21-2, 8-1 NACC) and Lakeland (6-15-1, 5-5 NACC) pitchers went at it in game one resulting in a quick moving duel to start the day. The Raiders offense was more than up for the challenge though. The Red & White spread nine hits over the course of seven innings and broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the second with a Jocelyn Clodi RBI single. Kara McKenna was the only other Raider to drive in a run as her hit in the bottom of the fifth ended the scoring. Lorrin Pondo was stellar, giving up just four hits and striking out 12 as MSOE wins game one 2-0.
The Raider's margin of error was a little greater in game two. The Red & White plated three runs in both the second and fifth innings, giving plenty of run support to starter Emily Wiederholt and Pondo who came on in relief to earn her 11th victory of the season. McKenna picked up another pair of RBIs while Jenna Trewyn, Celine Pacheco, and Clodi each had on in the five run win for the Raiders.
WHO'S ON DECK
