Box Score 2 MILWAUKEE – With three weeks left in the season, MSOE softball has a marathon to run to get in all the contests that have been postponed so far this campaign. That trek started on Saturday afternoon which resulted in a split with Aurora at the MSOE Athletic Field.
RESULTS
Aurora – 5
#17 MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Aurora – 2
#17 MSOE RAIDERS – 7
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- The No. 17 MSOE (14-4, 7-3 NACC) bats were silenced in game one. The Raiders registered only three hits to start off the afternoon, two of which came off the bat of Faith Matta.
- Meanwhile Aurora (23-5, 11-3 NACC) recorded nine of their own. The Spartans scored two in the top of the third to negate the Red & White's 1-0 lead before plating three more in the sixth to give us the final score of 5-1.
- Game Two
- The Raiders were much more active in the second game of the twin bill and immediately hopped all over Aurora's starting pitcher. MSOE scored two runs in both the first and second innings with RBIs going to Delaney Martino, Lauren Stefanczyk, Grace Salaja, and Morgan Long.
- The Red & White plated two more in the fifth and one in the sixth to build up a secure 7-1 lead.
- Aurora scored one in the top of the seventh, but it wasn't nearly enough to prevent the Raiders from salvaging a split. Kennedy Lehn threw three innings of scoreless ball and Sarah Grossman picked up the win in relief with four efficient frames of her own.
