RESULTS
Lakeland – 5
#16 MSOE RAIDERS – 9
Lakeland – 4
#16 MSOE RAIDERS – 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- No. 16 MSOE (23-7, 16-6 NACC) were immediately put in a hole to begin game one when Lakeland (18-14, 13-10) blasted a two-run shot to left field in the top of the first inning.
- The Raiders got that back and took the lead for good in the second though. Singles from Kara McKenna and Delaney Martino plated three for the Raiders and they would go on to add five more in the third with Celine Pacheco, Grace Salaja, and McKenna all picking up RBIs.
- Starter Kennedy Lehn made sure that 8-2 lead would hold up as she allowed only three more runs to cross the plate after the Muskies initial strike and struck out nine in the Red & White's 9-5 victory.
- Game Two
- Another Muskies two run homer put MSOE down early on in game two, and while there wasn't a big offensive outburst like in game one, the Raiders did attempt a comeback.
- After Lakeland made it 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Jenna Trewyn singled to plate Faith Matta and Lauren Stefanczyk reach via an error to cut the Muskies lead down to 3-2. McKenna then tripled in Salaja in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3.
- Unfortunately, the Red & White would never hold the lead in the contest. Lakeland would homer in the top of the seventh for their third of the day to take a 4-3 lead, one which would hold up as the Raiders fell by one.
RAIDER REMARKS
- With today's results, the Red & White can finish no better than third in the regular season standings. However, their spot in the playoffs is still safely secured.
