HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- MSOE (16-8, 8-2 NACC) got on the board in their first at-bats of the day against Aurora (13-11, 7-3 NACC) when Jenna Trewyn singled home Grace Salaja after the centerfielder doubled to left to lead off the game.
- Two more runs came across for the Raiders in the third to make it 3-0 when Celine Pacheco singled to knock in Faith Matta right before Jenna O'Donnell doubled to plate Lauren Stefanczyk. Pacheco then got another insurance run in the top of the seventh when she doubled to left to score Reagan Jordan.
- The fact was though that the Raiders could have stopped scoring in the first and they would have been just fine. Kennedy Lehn was in full control in the circle, throwing the complete game shutout while allowing just four Spartan hits and striking out their opponent eight times in the 4-0 victory.
- Game Two
- The second game of the afternoon was an absolute slugfest. The Raiders plated seven runs in the top of the first with Trewyn, Stefanczyk, Salaja, and Alyssa Jacobson each driving in at least one run.
- Aurora woke up though and added five of their own in the second to make things extremely competitive. The Spartans then scored two more in the fourth and one in the fifth to negate a Red & White run in the third to tie things at 8-8 heading into the sixth.
- Small ball gave the Raiders the lead back in that sixth inning though when Salaja singled up the middle, eventually scoring on a Morgan Long sacrifice fly, by the Raiders bats got big again in the seventh. MSOE pushed five runs across to create distance between themselves and Aurora which was capped off by a three run blast from Jacobson, giving the sophomore seven RBIs in the game and the Raiders a 14-8 win.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders have now run their winning streak against Aurora to four games which includes a come from behind victory last year in the NACC tournament semifinals.
