HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • Nolan Vincent had the start in game one and helped keep things quiet for the first three innings of play. In the top of the fourth, both Blake Hall and Micah Overley hit singles into right field to get two men on for Kyle Labedz. A deep fly ball into right center went over the fence for his first of the year to get MSOE (13-9, 5-7 NACC) ahead 3-0. Edgewood (15-10, 8-4 NACC) answered in the bottom half with two runs of their own to make the game 3-2 on a double down the right field line.
    • The two each added another run on the board with the Raiders getting a double from Hall to bring William Blank in. Blank then added a run in the sixth on a single to right center to bring Sam Meidenbauer to score to make the game 5-3.
    • The defense for the Raiders was pressed the rest of the way forcing many mental errors. The Eagles added two runs in the bottom of the seventh on an error to tie the game at five. In the next inning, the Eagles took a 6-5 lead, laying down a perfectly placed bunt. The Raiders forced bases loaded in the top of the ninth to try and tie the game, but a groundout ended things giving the Eagles the game one victory.
  • Game Two
    • Game two had a similar quiet first few frames until the top of the third when Jack Kalitowski laid down a bunt of his own to force an overthrow bring Cobey Alderden around the score. Chris Barnes worked a walk next before Hall blasted a ball into right center field making the game 4-0 early. The Raiders added two more runs in the next inning with Alderden singling into left field and Hall reaching on a bases loaded fielder's choice to extend the lead 6-0.
    • The two added more runs in the sixth inning as Alderden sent another ball into left field bringing Nolan Wojciechowski around from second to score and Hall sent another ball over the right centerfield fence giving them a 10-0 lead. The Raiders added one more run in the top of the seventh as Kalitowski grounded out to the shortstop bring Wojciechowski in as Joseph Teschke finished off the seven inning shutout to give the Raiders the 11-0 game two victory.
