HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • MSOE (10-2, 2-0 NACC) jumped on the board early in the top of the first inning with a triple from Collin Truitt to bring Blake Hall all the way around to score from first. Concordia-Chicago (9-9, 2-2 NACC) responded back with two runs over the course of the next two innings to take a 2-1 but a Kyle Labedz grand slam in the top of the third gave the Raiders a 5-2 lead midway through the third.
    • The Cougars scored three more runs to tie the game at five, but seven runs over the next two innings for the Raiders, including two home runs from Hall and a home run from Truitt gave the Raiders a commanding 12-5 lead. The Cougars tacked to two more runs to cut into the deficit, but five more runs including grand slam from Micah Overlay put the game away as the Raiders won 17-8.
  • Game Two
    • The Raiders bats kept swinging to begin the second game as ten runs were scored in the first two innings, highlighted by William Blank's two run single in the first. The Cougars cut their deficit in half in the bottom of the second inning with five runs of their own as the Raiders took those runs back over the course of the next two innings with Truitt hitting a two-run home run to take a 15-5 lead.
    • Two more runs were added by the Cougars to work to within eight of the Raiders after six innings. The Raiders finalized the game in the seventh inning adding eight more runs with Overley and Labedz each having two-RBI hits as the Raiders brought in Caleb Morton to pitch the bottom of the seventh, working a double-play ball and a flyout to right to finish game, giving the Raiders a 23-7 victory.
