HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just like last night, the first period was slow for both teams, with Trine (14-3-0, 7-1-0 NCHA) attacking heavily on the offensive end with Nick Stofcheck making 13 saves. The two sides headed into the first period break deadlocked at zero, but MSOE (8-7-2, 2-7-1 NCHA) struck first with a power play goal just minutes into starting the second period by Jacob Bosse.
- The Thunder just minutes later answered to tie the game back at one to keep the scored tied heading into the third. Minutes into the third period beginning, the Thunder started the high scoring period with a goal just two minutes in just to be one-upped by a power play goal by Cole Beilke from Adam Smith just minutes later to lock up the score at two each.
- The Thunder four minutes later a power play opportunity of their own and successfully found the back of the net for a 3-2 lead. Just when it seemed like the Thunder had it all under control, Carson Jones hit a one-timer from the right side to re-tie up the game at three and force an extra five minutes. Unfortunately, the Thunder found the back of the net first to steal it 4-3.
