Men's Soccer Cruises Past Eagles

LISLE, Ill. – The MSOE men's soccer continued to lock up more home games for the upcoming conference tournament as they cruise past Benedictine University on the road.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 4

Benedictine - 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both defenses were on full display as neither team recorded a shot through the first 13 minutes. It wasn't until Zach Thompson took a header steal down the right side to go opposite corner on the Benedictine (6-8-2, 4-6-1 NACCC) goalie to give MSOE (9-3-5, 8-2-1 NACC) a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later however, the Eagles took their first shot of the game that sailed through to tie up the game at one. After a foul from the Eagles with the Raiders streaking towards the goal in the 24th minutes, Austin Killen gave the Raiders the lead on a penalty kick goal as they headed into the break with a 2-1 lead.
  • The Raiders didn't waste any time coming out of the break as Michael Rohrman found Tanner Cellio in the middle of the box to extend their lead up to 3-1. The Raiders continued to dominate throughout the second half, not allowing another shot on the goal as Braedon Smith put the final nail in the coffin with under 14 minutes to play.
