Men's Soccer Upended in Conference Championship Rematch

MILWAUKEE – In a rematch of last year's conference championship game, revenge wasn't in the cards for the MSOE men's soccer team after a second-half run from Dominican University.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 1

Dominican - 2

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite the action being slow to begin, it was evenly distributed with each team getting off three shots in first fifteen minutes. MSOE (4-3-4, 3-2-0 NACC) had the first opportunity for the big played when Zach Thompson got fouled in the box with a clear path to the net. Nico Picha took the penalty opportunity for the Raiders that swished through bottom left corner for the 1-0 lead 20 minutes in. The Raiders continued to fire off shots throughout the ret of the half, but only held their one-point lead heading into the break.
  • Quickly into the second-half beginning, Dominican (6-3-3, 3-0-2 NACC) tied things up as they found the opposite corner streaking down the left side. Shortly afterwards, Thompson came up just short of taking the lead when the ball nearly trickled its way into the net before saved by the Stars defender. That play came back to haunt them when in the 67th minute, the Stars in opened field connected on another goal to take a 2-1 lead. The Raiders couldn't find a way to put together more opportunities in the half, unfortunately having to fall.
