MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's hockey team battled to the overtime period for the second straight day with College of St. Scholastica, dropping their final game of the opening weekend series.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
St. Scholastica - 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (0-1-1, 0-0-0 NCHA) dominate the shots in the first period 9-5, but it wasn't until late in the period when they connected when out of a power play Nikolai Charchenko fed Charlie Skinner for the first goal of the game as they finished the first period with a 1-0 lead. After a faceoff late in the second, St. Scholastica (1-0-1, 0-0-0 MIAC) answered to tie up the game and head into the final period tied at one.
- With the Raiders hoping to take advantage of a power play opportunity, the Saints had different ideas with a short-handed breakaway less than minute into the third period beginning to take a 2-1 lead. After a skirmish in the boards at the 11:34 mark, Jacob Bosse was able to collect the puck out to pass off to Steve Guo to tie it up at two as once again the two teams headed into the overtime period. After back-to-back shots from the Raiders, the Saints took the deflection down the ice to take the win.
