ADRIAN, Mich. – A day removed from falling 8-0, the MSOE women's hockey team took the #4 Adrian Bulldogs to a shootout on Saturday afternoon, as the Red and White held their ranked opponent scoreless for over 60 minutes of play before falling 1-0 in the shooutout.

Adrian Bulldogs – 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (2-10-1, 1-6-1 NCHA) fared much better in their second go around against the Bulldogs (12-2-0, 8-0-0 NCHA) as Arial Lapsa recorded the first MSOE shot on goal just 53 seconds into the contest. Both MaryFrancis Williams and Amy MacDonald would see scoring chances early for the Red and White, but the Bulldogs goalie turned them away. The Raiders would go on the powerplay to close the first, but would see both shots stopped, including a buzzer-beating attempt from Sara Kopf. The second period was full of special teams play, as the Raiders held their own on the penalty kill and four-on-four opportunities, including a tremendous shorthanded chance from Hannah Baumann.
- The Raiders defense would continue to stand tall all night, stifling all six Adrian powerplays. Goalie Laura Melizza recorded a program-record 61 saves, while Kiera Ballweg led the team with three blocked shots against the nationally ranked Bulldogs. In overtime, the Bulldogs would go on the powerplay but commit a penalty of their own after just one shot, ending the three-on-three abruptly as the Red and White would gear up for the shootout. After the first two MSOE shots were saved, Williams was unable to beat the Adrian goalie with the Raiders falling 1-0 in the shootout but proving they can hang with the top of the NCHA.
