Raiders Split Buccaneers; Pick Up First Victory This Season

GLENDALE, Wis. – The MSOE baseball team picked up their first win of the season this afternoon against Beloit College but unfortunately couldn't complete the sweep in game two.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 5
Beloit – 1

MSOE RAIDERS – 12
Beloit - 15

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • After a scoreless inning and a half, MSOE (1-2, 0-0 NACC) found their time to make a statement as they loaded up the bases for Nolan Wojciechowski score the opening run on a groundout to second. Jack Kalitowski then stepped in and ripped one into left center for two more runs and two batters late, Blake Hall sent one into right to make the game 4-0 after two.
    • Caden Morton got the start on the mound and produced four scoreless innings for the Raiders. Wojciechowksi added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth which despite Beloit (1-1, 0-0 MWC) breaking the shutout in the ninth, Nolan Vincent put things away for the game one victory.
  • Game Two
    • The Buccaneers hoped to change the script in game two after putting up three runs in the opening frame, but the Raiders kept things like normal. After getting the two batters on, the Raiders put up four runs capped by a two-run triple by Christian Bosque to take a 4-3 lead.
    • The Raiders recorded four straight two-run innings, including home runs by Sam Meidenbauer and Micah Overley, with the hopes of getting the game done early taking a 12-3 lead. In the eighth inning that all changed after the Buccaneers put up a seven-piece to eventually tie up the game at 12 in the ninth and send it to extras. After each side went scoreless in the tenth, the Buccaneers blasted a three-run home run in the eleventh to complete their comeback 15-12.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will now prepare for their time in the sunshine state as they take on Penn State-Abington and Rowan University on March 10th.
