HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- Benedictine (20-6, 9-5 NACC) jumped to an early lead in the top of the first but that last much long after. After Micah Overley and Chris Barnes each reached in the bottom of the second, Blake Hall ran out the double-play to tie up the game.
- Sam Meidenbauer led things off in the bottom of the fourth with a bang, blasting a solo shot over the fence to give MSOE (15-8, 9-3 NACC) the 2-1 lead. Later in the inning, Collin Truitt used his big bat ability, flying out to deep left field to bring Overley in to score to extend their lead to 3-2. Tyler Gronert limited the Eagles offense the rest of the way, only allowing only one more run to hold them off for a 3-2 win in game one.
- Game Two
- The Eagles had a similar start to game two but was immediately shut down in the bottom half of the inning. The Raiders put up seven runs first, highlighted by a three-run blast from Hall, to gap the Eagles and sit in the drivers seat the rest of the game.
- Three more runs over the course of the next three innings for the Eagles in hopes of cutting into their deficit were totally halted when in the bottom of the fourth, six more runs for the Raiders, including two RBI hits from Jack Kalitowski and Meidenbauer, put the game out of reach the Eagles to come back from. Two more runs in the bottom of the sixth from Eagle errors helped lead to things ending early to finish of the sweep 15-5.
