Raiders Split With Green Knights

GLENDALE, Wis. – The MSOE baseball team split their doubleheader with St. Norbert College Friday afternoon. Game one saw the Raiders first conference loss of the season but were able to bounce back in a big way in game two to run rule the Green Knights.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 8
St. Norbert – 9

MSOE RAIDERS – 13
St. Norbert - 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • After a scoreless first, MSOE (11-6, 5-1 NACC) struck when Christian Bosque drove in two men as the Raiders eventually loaded the bases and Kyle Labedz kept the train rolling with a walk to bring in another. St. Norbert answered with two runs in the bottom half to keep the game tight 3-2 after two.
    • Blake Hall and Sam Meidenbauer played long ball back-to-back different ways in the top of the fourth as Hall used his legs inside the park and Meidenbauer sent a moonshot into left field to give the Raiders a 5-2 lead.
    • The Raiders continued to grow their lead 6-4 until the Green Knights finally found their rhythm in the bottom of the fifth taking the lead and never looking back. After building up a 9-6 lead heading into the final inning, the Raiders cut into the deficit but ultimately fell short to drop the first game 9-8.
  • Game Two
    • The Raiders had a similar start to game two as after scoreless first, the runs came in in the second inning, kickstarted by a double by Collin Truitt to bring Micah Overley in to score as they eventually took a 3-0 lead. A few more scoreless innings past until the Raiders added more to their lead with Overley and Chris Barnes driving in runs in the fifth innings to allow them to feel comfortable with a 5-0 lead.
    • Things went completely upside down for the Green Knights when the sixth inning came and gave the Raiders bases load consistently throughout as they poured it on, putting an eight spot on the scoreboard with a 13-0 lead. The Green Knights hoping to not allow the game to end early finally broke the shutout in the bottom of the seventh, but Nolan Vincent completed it to end the game 13-3.
