MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's hockey team shined in their home opener Friday night, defeating Lawrence University as
Jackson Hughes hit the back of the net twice.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (2-1-0, 1-0-0 NCHA) completely dominated the first period, outshooting Lawrence (1-2-0, 0-1-0 NCHA) 12-4. The Raiders took advantage of that as Ethan Thombs received a pass in the middle from Luke Stevens for a rocket to lead 1-0 after the first.
- Starting the second period on the powerplay, the Raiders struck once again as Casey Roepke fed Adam Smith to make it 2-0. Hughes hit his first goal of night with seven minutes to play in the period before the Vikings got on the scoreboard on the powerplay as the two teams went into the third period with the score 3-1.
- The Raiders went back on the powerplay in the third and Hughes answered once again, hitting his second goal of the night six minutes into the period. Roepke put the final nail in the coffin, taking one unassisted with under four minutes to play.
