WHEATON, Ill. – The MSOE men's wrestling team competed at the largest Division III wrestling tournament this weekend, as the Raiders battled at the Pete Willson Invite, hosted by Wheaton College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling in his opening bout, Gavin Graham scored three straight wins for the Red and White in the consolation bracket, recording two pinfall victories and one 15-0 tech fall triumph before falling to his opponent from Cornell College.
- Jackson Hughes won his opening round bout at 174 via fall in less than two minutes but was sent to the consolation bracket after a second-round loss. Hughes picked up two more wins in Wheaton, a 3-0 decision and another pinfall but was unable to place at the largest Division III wrestling tournament.
- Toren Vandenbush was the lone Raider to score two wins in the championship bracket, with a pinfall victory in just 1:05 to open the tournament, followed up by a dominant 15-0 tech fall win. Vandenbush would fall in the championship quarterfinals before bowing out in his first match of the consolation bracket to his opponent from Mount St. Joseph University.
- Connor Nagela won his opening round matchup at 149 with an impressive 18-2 tech fall triumph. Nagela would fall in his second-round matchup but picked up one more win in the consolation bracket with a 10-6 decision.
- Michael Smith and Max Sanderfoot each picked up a win for the Raiders at the Pete Willson, with Smith battling his way to a pinfall victory over his Mount Union opponent in 6:30, while Sanderfoot scored a 24-11 major decision win in his opening matchup against UW-Platteville.

The Raiders will head to Plymouth, Wis. for the NACC Showcase on Friday, February 7
th. The action is set to begin at 4:00 P.M.
