Men's Lax Opens Season with Lopsided Win in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky.– The MSOE men's lacrosse team kicked off their 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon as the Red and White offense was on full display in a lopsided win over Spalding University.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 21
Spalding Golden Eagles- 5

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (1-0) surrendered an early goal to the Golden Eagles (0-1) but Soren Savard was quick to answer the bell and tie the game back up for MSOE.  The Red and White would fall behind once more, but after another game tying goal, this time from Case Roberts, the momentum would fully swing towards MSOE.  Dawson Smith would tally three unanswered goals as the first quarter turned to the second with MSOE taking a 5-2 lead with just under six minutes to play in the half.  Paul Brueck would add a buzzer beater goal before the halftime buzzer to extend the MSOE lead to four at the break.
  • After a Golden Eagle score coming out of the break, Cole Karst would record his first career goal, followed up a mere six seconds later with another goal from Smith.  The Raiders would start to score with ease in the third, as Tom Farren and Carter Stahl got in on the action, building the MSOE lead to 14-4.  Carson Harris, Griffen Kaiser, and the MSOE defense would allow just one goal in the fourth, as the Raiders shifted into cruise control.  Josh Scheibel would add his first career goal, and after a Jack Civottolo goal put the cherry on top, the Raiders would head back from Louisville 1-0 on the heels of a 21-5 team win.
