University of Dubuque - 10
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (4-5, 2-2 NACC) and Spartans (4-5, 3-1 NACC) were deadlocked at 1-1 after a low scoring first quarter, but the Raiders would add two goals in the opening 48 seconds of the second frame as Alec Neuharth and Luke Neal found the back of the net to go up 3-1. The Spartans would tie the game up at the 5:15 mark of the second quarter, but Case Roberts and Neal would each add their second goal of the game with the Red and White leading 5-3 at the break.
- In the second half, Dubuque would knot the game up once more, but Soren Savard would immediately retake the lead for MSOE on an unassisted effort. The Raiders and Spartans would go back and forth trading the lead for the tie until Andrew Toman found Carter Stahl with 9:22 left to play, giving MSOE a 9-7 lead. Savard would tally his second goal of the game to push the Raiders lead to 10-7 with less than eight minutes to play, as the physicality began to ramp up. Griffen Kaiser delivered a monster hit on a Spartan attacker but somehow the ball found the back of the goal, as the Raiders looked to protect the lead with two minutes to go in the contest. Alex Lo would make spectacular saves down the stretch to keep Dubuque at bay, as the Raiders handed the Spartans their first conference loss of the season.
