Cardinals Outlast Raiders in Naperville

NAPERVILLE, Ill.– The MSOE men's lacrosse team fell to North Central College on Saturday afternoon, as the Raiders offense struggled to find the back of the net against the staunch Cardinal defense.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
North Central Cardinals - 12

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (2-2) trailed North Central (4-0) from jump street, as the Cardinals scored the opening goal just 43 seconds into the contest. Despite the early strike from North Central, Griffen Kaiser and the MSOE defense would continue to apply pressure and trailed 2-0 at the end of the first quarter.  The Cardinals would register another quick goal to start the second quarter, scoring in 23 seconds.  Graden Jansen would win the ensuing faceoff with the help of Carter Stahl, but North Central would unleash a scoring frenzy just before the midway point of the quarter.  After capitalizing an MSOE penalty for an illegal bodycheck, North Central would head into the break leading 6-0.
  • After the Cardinals tallied two more goals coming out of halftime, Dawson Smith would finally get the Raiders on the board with 5:02 left in the third quarter as the Red and White trailed 8-1.  Despite another goal from Smith, this time assisted by Tom Farren, the Raiders were unable to swing the momentum back to their side as MSOE fell to North Central by a final score of 12-2.
