HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- MSOE (11-14, 7-2 NACC) jumped out in front of CUC (17-10, 10-3 NACC) in the bottom of the very first inning, as a Jayda Nelson single combined with an error from the Cougars allowed Jenna O'Donnell to score and gave the Raiders the first run of the game. Katie Pollock followed it up with an RBI single, with Olivia Beals dropping a base hit to left center immediately after, pushing the MSOE lead to 3-0 after one inning.
- In the bottom of the second inning, Carlee Emery stepped into the batter's box with O'Donnell and Alyssa Jacobson on the basepaths, as the Mankato, Minn. native blasted a three-run home run to put the Raiders ahead 6-0. After a quick third inning, a solo home run from O'Donnell in the fourth inning put the Raiders within one run of shortening the game. Pollock retired the Cougars in order in the top of the fifth, putting a bow on a one-hit shutout. The Raiders would secure the run-rule walk-off win after a leadoff double from Emery brought on freshman Brynn Kerber to pinch run. Kerber advanced to third on a single from Pollock, before a sacrifice fly from Beals brought her home, as MSOE won 8-0 in 5 innings, their third straight win of eight runs or more.
- Game Two
- In game two it was the Cougars that would go up 1-0 early, taking advantage of a couple Raider miscues on the way to an unearned run. The Raiders would knot the game up in the bottom of the frame, as a single from Emery brought O'Donnell around to tie the game up at 1-1.
- The Cougars would strike again in the top of the third, taking the lead back at 3-1 on a 2-RBI double to the left-center gap. The Raiders would record three straight hits to leadoff the bottom of the third, as Pollock's hit allowed Nelson to score, cutting the MSOE deficit to 3-2, but the Raider rally was cut short on back-to-back strikeouts.
- The Cougars would add two more in the fourth, but the Raiders would keep it within a run at 5-4 after adding two runs of their own on a Jacobson groundout and an error from the Cougars. CUC would add runs in the fifth and seventh innings, as Concordia held a 10-5 lead going into the bottom of the seventh, too much for the Red and White to overcome.
