Raiders Fall to Falcons in Sweep

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE softball team closed out their homestand against the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons on Monday afternoon, as the Raiders were swept by CUW, mustering just seven hits across the two-game series.

RESULTS

CUW Falcons – 3
MSOE RAIDERS - 0

CUW Falcons - 14
MSOE RAIDERS - 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • MSOE (12-16, 8-3 NACC) trailed CUW (19-19, 10-4 NACC) after the Falcons brought an early run across in the top of the first inning on an RBI single.  The Raiders would chase that run the rest of the contest, as the pitcher for CUW methodically worked their way through the MSOE lineup.
    • In the bottom of the fourth inning, singles from Jayda Nelson and Katie Pollock put two on base with two outs for the Red and White, looking to spark a Raider rally but a fly out would cut the rally short before it got started as the Raiders fell in game one by a final score of 3-0.
  • Game Two
    • In game two, the Falcons jumped on the Raiders in the first inning, hanging seven runs on six hits on the Red and White.  CUW showed no signs of slowing down in the second, adding six more runs on six more hits as MSOE trailed 13-0 after two innings.
    • The Raiders looked to stop CUW from enacting the run rule in the bottom of the fifth, as Caroline Fouras led off with a single to center field before advancing to second on a passed ball.  The Raiders would call on a couple pinch hitters of the bench, but the new bats were not enough as MSOE fell 14-0 in game two as CUW ran away with the sweep.

WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will hit the road for the short trip to Alverno College on Thursday, April 24th with game one set to begin at 3:00 P.M. with game two to follow.
