HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- MSOE (6-12, 2-0 NACC) and Benedictine (12-8, 1-3 NACC) engaged in a pitcher's duel in game one, as Katie Pollock overcame and early jam and was lights out the rest of the way for the Red and White. Pollock would finish with seven innings pitched and no earned runs, while striking out four and allowing four total baserunners.
- With the game still tied at 0-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Alyssa Jacobson would break the tie in dramatic fashion, blasting a homerun to deep right center as the Red and White suddenly found themselves up 1-0 with just an inning to play. In the top of the seventh, Pollock would allow a leadoff single, but would retire the next three Eagles in order, slamming the door on a Benedictine comeback in a 1-0 MSOE victory.
- Game Two
- In Game Two, both teams got on the board in the first inning as the Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single up the middle. The Raiders would respond in full in the bottom of the inning, as the Raiders ripped off three straight hits with two runners on, as Jacobson, Pollock and Carlee Emery all recorded RBI hits.
- The Eagles would tag the Raiders for a second running in the very next inning, but Brynn Timmer was lights out on the mound the rest of the way, pitching 6.1 innings while allowing just two earned runs. After the Eagles had tied the game up in the top of the seventh. Autumn Sadler would start the Raider rally with a single, before a base hit from Jayda Nelson advanced Sadler to third base. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Noel Dahl would pinch hit, drawing a walk on five pitches, loading the bases for the Red and White. With the game on the line, Emery would get the chance to play hero, slapping a hit to the left center gap and dropping mere feet from both Eagles outfielders as MSOE won their first home games of the year in still, and impressed in the opening of conference play.
